My Recent Dream of Vicki: I dreamed about Vicki the other night and I felt the dream captured her unique spirit. I was in the tattoo parlor of a Pacific Northwest Native American man, awaiting a consultation. I was admiring his unusual artwork on the wall, including some glass reliefs and other dimensional art. The door opened, and Vick walked in with that big smile we all know. I said to her, "I thought you had passed on!" and she replied that she had. She continued to smile and together we strolled through the studio and admired the artwork. She stopped at a glass piece depicting several large flower buds, bent and curled around one another. She simply gazed at it in wonder. Vick was interested in everything. She asked questions and had a curiosity that is rare in adults. She wanted to explore, to observe and discover. This curiosity was present in my dream, along with her calm demeanor and, of course, that smile. There are a million things about Vicki that are unique and amazing--courage, strength, intelligence, creativity--but it is the curiosity that I always think of first. It is the quality I hope to carry forward into my life. I love Vicki and miss her. "Aunt" Sue Crouse
